5 Ways To Become More Visible In The Workplace

...without having to be someone you are not.

Have you ever applied for a job and despite having proven results and being the best candidate for the position you were unsuccessful because the person interviewing you “didn’t think you wanted it enough”?

If you have you’re not the first and sadly you won’t be the last either!

In fact I’ve spoken with and worked with many women to tell me that despite the work they do, the contribution they make to the company and the results they’ve achieved, they often feel invisible and don’t get the same opportunities as others around them.

So how do you stop feeling this way and start to be seen as the powerful and valued leader you are?

Here are 5 ways you can become more visible in the workplace:

  1. Avoid being a people pleaser

People-pleasers often do more work than required of them in an effort to help others or to “prove” themselves. While it’s important to help others and work well as a team, becoming a people-pleaser may make it easier for others to take advantage of your talents and good nature. If you’re already choosing to work longer or do extra tasks for free, why would the company increase your pay?

  1. Be your biggest advocate

Confidently share what you’re working on, what’s going well and your wins. Holding back from sharing your great work contributes to the pattern of not feeling seen. Perhaps people around you do see your hard work but forget to comment or perhaps people don’t know the role you played in achieving great results for your team, hence why you are overlooked in job interviews.

  1. Attend company gatherings

I know, these are often outside of work hours and you’d rather be doing something else. Attending company gatherings gives you the opportunity to meet new people, build stronger relationships and talk about the amazing work you do.

  1. Get a new job

If you feel like you’re not being seen or undervalued in your current workplace then it’s ok to consider looking for a new job especially if you’ve lost your passion for what you do. Consider what it is you really want to do and then ask yourself what you need to do to make it happen. If you’re not sure then reach out, I’d love to chat and see if I can help!

  1. Get a mentor

Consider getting yourself a professional mentor or joining a community of like-minded women who are working on achieving a common goal. Increasing your confidence, communication and influence is really challenging and no one can change and progress into the next version of themselves without help!

Hi, I'm

Lorraine Hamilton

Early in my coaching career I knew that I needed to get to the heart of my clients’ passions, but the tools that were available to me just weren’t good enough.

So I set about finding a method that was both powerful AND enjoyable for my clients.

I spent years perfecting it from researching many other approaches, research and modalities until I created The Authentic Impact Blueprint®.

Since then, I have guided hundreds of private clients through it, and I have trained hundreds of other coaches in my approach who have gone on to lead their clients through it.

All report the same thing – this changed their life.

What have you got to lose?

Another year of misery and feeling undervalued in your current role – no thanks!
